Our story started in the most unexpected yet beautiful way — through an arranged marriage proposal. In May 2025 my (Khushali’s) parents received a request on Shaadi.com from Tejas’s family. They had liked my profile, and after our families spoke, Tejas and I decided to connect on a call.
What started as simple conversations slowly turned into something special. We instantly felt comfortable with each other, and with every call, we grew closer. A few weeks later, Tejas’s family visited my hometown, Jodhpur, and we officially met through our families.
From May to August, we spent hours talking, laughing, and getting to know each other deeply despite the distance between India and Canada. Then came one of the most special moments of my life. On 3rd August, Tejas came to meet me for the first time.
We talked for hours, and everything felt so natural, warm, and right. Just two days later, on 5th August, he called me and asked the question that changed our lives forever: “Will you marry me?” I still remember asking him, “Are you really sure you want to spend your whole life with me?” And without hesitation, he said yes.
On 15th August, we had our roka ceremony surrounded by our families and love. But only two days later, on 17th August, Tejas had to fly back to Canada. That was the beginning of our long-distance journey. For months, we continued loving each other through phone calls, video calls, late-night conversations, countdowns, and endless “I miss yous.”
On 23rd November, he finally came back to India, and on 4th December, we got married. Those days together after marriage were magical. But after spending only around 20 days together, we once again had to return to a long-distance marriage.
We’ve tried everything to close the distance, including applying for my Canada visitor visa twice, but unfortunately, both applications were rejected. It hasn’t been easy. There are hard days, emotional goodbyes, and moments when the distance feels unbearable.
But through it all, we’ve learned something important: love is not about being together every single day physically. Sometimes, it’s about choosing each other every day despite the distance. We continue to find little ways to keep the spark alive — virtual dates, long conversations, surprises, shared dreams, and constantly reminding each other that this phase is temporary.
Our story may have started as an arranged marriage, but somewhere between the calls, the distance, the airport goodbyes, and the waiting… we fell deeply in love. And no matter how many miles separate us, we still choose each other every single day.
