Mariya & Zain

Our story started in the most unexpected way. Although we had crossed paths years earlier at a school event, we never actually got to know each other. A few years later, we reconnected on Instagram through mutual friends. What started as casual conversations about the Pakistan Super League (PSL) quickly turned into a beautiful friendship, and before we knew it, we had fallen for each other.

At the time, Zain was living in Malaysia and I was in Lahore, Pakistan. After four years of knowing each other online, we finally decided it was time to meet in person. We chose Islamabad for our first meeting, and by our third date, Zain asked me to marry him. It was one of the happiest moments of our lives. About a year later, we met again at his brother’s wedding. Soon after, Zain moved to Australia while I moved to Islamabad. Before leaving, he promised me that when he came back, we would get married. Then COVID changed everything. Australia went through strict border restrictions, and we were separated for four long years.

We stayed connected through daily calls, endless messages, video chats, and prayers. We missed each other every single day and kept hoping the borders would reopen so we could finally be together again. When Zain was finally able to return, we had our Nikah. Sadly, just one week later, he had to fly back to Australia. Once again, we found ourselves living a long-distance life. In 2026, we finally celebrated our wedding, but our happiness was short-lived. Just 27 days later, Zain had to return to Australia, and we were separated once again. Today, we are still waiting for my visa to be approved.

Every day we count down the days until we can finally close the distance for good, build our home together, and start the family we’ve dreamed about for so many years. Long distance has never been easy, but it has taught us patience, trust, commitment, and unconditional love. After all these years, our love has only grown stronger.

We truly believe that one day this chapter of waiting will end, and all the distance will simply become part of the story that brought us to our forever. Love may be separated by oceans, but it is never measured by miles.
