This long-distance date idea is perfect for couples who love board games, enjoy playful competition, and creativity. It works especially well for video calls and does not require a physical board game, making it ideal for couples who are apart.
Vanessa and Mehrad love playing the board game version in person, but they wanted to find a way to recreate the experience long distance. There is currently no official online version of Hues & Cues, but they have used a creative method to play. It is a simple setup and easy to recreate for any virtual date.
Instructions
Pick a time that works for both of you; use a time zone converter if needed.
Hop on a video call using Zoom, Google Meet, Discord, FaceTime, Microsoft Teams, or Skype.
Find a clear image of the Hues & Cues board. We have attached an image of it below.
Share your screen so both of you can see the board
Decide who will give the clues (the clue-giver) and who will guess (the guesser).
The clue-giver secretly chooses a color tile on the board. For example, A18 (magenta). The clue-giver cannot say the color name or the tile number to their partner.
The clue-giver gives one clue that describes the chosen color/tile.
For example, for A18 (magenta/pink):
- Barbie
- Dragon Fruit
- Raspberry
- Radish
The guesser makes one guess based on that clue.
If the guess is incorrect, the clue-giver gives the next clue.
Repeat until the correct color/tile is identified.
Switch roles and play another round.
