This long-distance date idea is perfect for couples who love viral TikTok games, friendly competition, and putting their observation skills to the test. The Find the Number Challenge has become a popular trend across TikTok and Instagram, where players race to find a hidden number surrounded by dozens of other numbers. The puzzles are designed to trick your eyes, making the hidden number blend into the rest and much harder to spot than it first appears.
Playing together makes it even more entertaining as you race to find the answer before your partner, celebrate quick wins, and laugh when one of you overlooks a number hiding in plain sight. It’s also a great virtual date idea for couples with busy schedules or different time zone differences since each round only takes a minute or two, making it easy to play whenever you’re both free.
Instructions
Pick a time that works for both of you; use a time zone converter if needed.
Hop on a video call using Zoom, Google Meet, Discord, FaceTime, Microsoft Teams, or Skype.
Use Zoom’s Whiteboard feature.
Go to the Shapes section and create a grid. It can be as large or as small as you’d like.
Beside the grid, scatter as many different numbers as you can across the whiteboard. The more numbers you add, the more challenging the game becomes.
If you do not have access to Zoom’s Whiteboard feature or would rather use a ready-made version, we included a picture of the game board that you can use during the date instead.
One person calls out one of the numbers on the board for their partner to find.
While their partner searches for the number, the caller races to fill in one square of their grid using a line, an X, a dot, or any other mark.
Work as quickly as possible, as your partner may find the number in just a second!
As soon as the searching player finds the correct number, they call it out and then become the next person to choose a number while their partner fills in their own grid.
Continue taking turns until one player fills every square in their grid.
The first person to complete their entire grid wins the game!

😀 Switch the numbers for emojis! Instead of calling out numbers, fill the board with different emojis and race to find the one your partner chooses.
❌ Make filling the grid more challenging. Instead of drawing a quick line, each completed square must contain a full X or O, making every second count while your partner searches.
🌈 Add different colors! Use multiple colors for the numbers and call out both the number and the color (for example, “red 2” or “green 7”). Finding a blue 2 doesn’t count if the correct answer was the red 2!
⏱️ Increase the pressure by giving each player only 5 or 10 seconds to find the correct number before automatically losing the turn.
